Ooh, a storm is threat'ning
My very life today
If I don't get some shelter
Ooh yeah, I'm gonna fade away‘Gimme Shelter’ by The Rolling Stones
Our basic needs for survival are:
air,
water,
food,
and shelter.
Shelter is great; we need it, but…
what separates a shelter from a home?
When our needs our met, our wants come in focus. Our wants ( for better or for worse ) make us human. And the primary, and most noble want is:
a Home
Homes are architecture. Something far beyond shelter.
A home is place.
A garden park in a city is a Place.
A place is not just any place or anywhere.
A place is not interchangeable, it is unique.
Its sounds. Its sights. Its smells. Its memories. Its people.
We all hold certian places near to our hearts.
Why is that?
There are numerous reasons; GIMME SHELTER explores this question, from Caves to Cathedrals.
Buildings, too, are children of the Earth and Sun.
